Tree Planting

Planting our Community Orchard

The children of Glass School and helpers had a busy morning this Friday. Two dozen fruit trees were planted – a mix of apple, plum and cherry. We have produced a map of the tree locations and the Christian names of the children that planted each tree. We also planted a further 450 hedging plants, which completes the green space’s transition to a place which is ideal for a range of wildlife. We also have a stretch of grass for sports & leisure. When the trees yield fruit it can be harvested by anyone, so help yourself in a few year’s time.

In addition to our tree planters we’ve had help from a gang of helpers who dug holes, made tree protectors & knocked in stakes.

Many thanks for the funders of this work: Co-op Community Fund and the Woodland Trust.
