Glass Sponsored Walk 2015

On 28th June a group of 38 walkers – of all ages –  set out from Kingsford Bridge and returned to Glass Hall – a distance of approximately 9.2 miles for the 2015 Glass Sponsored Walk

The weather was poor in the early morning – but  by 10.00am it had improved greatly for the start of the walk.  The walkers enjoyed fantastic journey alongside the Deveron toward Lynebain and from there by road back to the Hall.

Ted Andrews recorded the trip via some clever GPS “gizmos”. You can see more of the route with some photographs Ted captured by clicking here   When you get to the web page you can click on one of the three options in the box.  Ted also noted some data that he recorded as follows:

  • Total time taken 3 hours 52 minutes
  • Total distance: 9.261 miles
  • We descended from 1021 to 624 feet
  • But we climbed in total 1002 feet and descended 1331
  • We apparently burnt off 2100 calories!

The walkers were able to fully replenish the calories they burnt off during the walk courtesy of a splendid barbecue that welcomed the walkers back to the Hall. The barbecue was kindly provided and cooked by George and James Wordie.

Monies raised will go to Glass Hall funds and a donation given to a local Cancer Charity.
A note on the final amount raised will be posted in due course.

Finally – we would like to offer our sincere thanks to the walkers, their sponsors, and all those who helped support the walk.
